Financial statuses

Overview

Truemed is an “Additional Payment Method” and operates independently from Shop Pay. When a customer selects Truemed at checkout, Truemed processes the payment and sends payouts (less Truemed’s fees) to the bank account you link through a Stripe Express account that is created during onboarding. Payouts are issued in batches on a rolling two-day basis. Refunds are also processed through this same linked Stripe account.

Orders appear in Shopify as soon as they’re placed. The Shopify financial status on each order tells you where it is in the payment and fulfillment cycle, and what you should do next.

Your customer-facing checkout is unaffected by any of this.

Shopify financial statuses

1. Payment pending

Initial status after an order is placed. The health survey is under review and no LMN has been issued yet.

Payment is not captured at this stage, but an authorization is held on the customer’s card. You cannot capture payment while an order is in this state.

2. Authorized

The LMN has been issued. The order is cleared for payment.

• If your store uses automatic capture, the payment captures on its own.
• If your store uses manual capture, capture the payment yourself, either in bulk from the Orders list or with the Capture payment button inside the order. See Capturing payments.

3. Paid

Payment has been successfully captured. The order is ready to fulfill.

4. Expired

The LMN was rejected, or the authorization window elapsed before capture.

Do not fulfill these orders. No funds were collected. If the customer still wants the item, they’ll need to place a new order.

The two systems use different names for the same points in the order lifecycle.
